Immersive media has the power to evoke deep emotional connections with diverse cultures, yet its potential remains underutilised in addressing the challenges of our increasingly polarised societies.
This panel explores how creators can shift from stereotypes to authentic representations of our heterogeneous immigration societies. It will ask: What motivates the production of inclusive, diverse immersive experiences? Do creators see a responsibility or incentive to represent minorities? How are cultural institutions and public funders in the UK and Germany driving this change? And what structures and spaces are needed to make immersive creations accessible to diverse communities and the widest possible audience?
The background to the conference is a recent study conducted by the British Council on the topic of cultural diversity in the German creative tech sector.
The panel is organised by the British Council Germany in cooperation with the XRBB.
