With our exhibition „Choose Your Player” we explored how games and gaming have shaped, transformed and created communities, spanning social milieus, nationalities and generations. Offering chances to learn about games, their history and potentials as a sociocultural media, the exhibition served as a sphere where the expertise of “digital natives” was actively engaged. It integrated digital and analogue options and interactive gaming stations that raised questions about the future, about power and (future) communities themselves. Thusly, the exhibition served as a space where generations could enter into a dialogue in relation to the exhibited games and themes, learn from each other, share their feelings and experiences. Here, we share insights, highlights and learnings from “Choose Your Player” that might help the creation of powerful hybrid spaces of dialogue and connection in the future.
